We had alpha reviews last week, and they went relatively well. I had the base pipeline of the tool done, although much of it was not automated unfortunately. The base pipeline is building the scene in Maya, assigning Mitsuba materials, and then exporting the scene information and rendering it in Mitsuba. I can only support diffuse materials, but adding more is extremely straightforward, so I had been focusing on getting the rest of the pipeline finished before adding more materials.
For Betas, I would like to have a fully automated pipeline, and all of the common Mitsuba materials implemented. That is a lot of coding to finish, but I don't think it is unreasonable. The main tasks are to code the materials, and then make the plugin a top level drop down menu that handles all of the render settings and exporting.
